Thank you so much, Dr.Sisco. I think these links are very helpful.
Actually, I have never known about these links before.
When i look at them, they provide many benefits, for example:
- good slide design
- tips in speaking
- tips in presentation
I like them a lot. Moreover, I’m sure that everyone in class will like these links as well.
I link to some of website, but this onehttp://www.bertdecker.com/experience/2005/09/five_key_princi.html “Five Key Principles to Great Communicating” is really catch my attention. “Communication” is such an important and essential part for daily life. However, it is also a difficult about how to make a great communication. Because the main point for communicating, not just as simple as talking, but also about making people understand you. Another point is, communicating can even make people get close to each other.
And I think it is important to me and to everyone, because it can be very useful not just in the presentaion, something that Bert Decker, CEO of Decker Communication. Inc. mentions happens all the time, for example, communicating without any point of view, speaking without any emotion, don’t pay attention on appearence, speaking without confidence, etc, these can decrease the creditability of communication.
I think think these websites can help us a lot in the future, when doing the presentation or just a simply daily communication.
I am sorry for the mistake, it should be
http://www.bertdecker.com/experience/2005/09/five_key_princi.html
I got a chance to go through all the links that were provided by the proffessor. I think they are awesome. You cannot imagine how many mistakes we make during presentations and how easy it is to become a great presenter. I was particularly impressed by http://www.garrreynolds.com, because there are solutions to many problems. It also has a lead to many other links which are equally amazing.
Thankyou Dr. Sisco.
Unbelievable slide designs. I never thought that one can do a presentation this way.
Now I realize that while giving a presentation, we cannot relax when we have decided what to speak and what points to present. The actualy hardwork starta after you know what you are going to present. As Lynn mentioned, Communication is to make our listeners understand. So to make them understand and believe in what we present, we defenitely have to work hard on the slide design, pictures and our voice.
Actually, I believe that the more you learn the less mistakes you make. All the links that Dr Sisco posted provided us with good strategies and methods to deliver a professional presentation. And also those links lead us to other important articles. For example, while reading the fourth link, I came across the phrase “Communication skills” and the word “Newsworthy” I clicked on them. They lead me to other important articles which links are:
http://www.bertdecker.com/experience/communication_skills/index.html
http://www.bertdecker.com/experience/newsworthy/index.html
So it’s like a chain of knowledge that the students should profit from to be able to deliver professional presentations.
I am so glad we all have the access to this great information. I really think that this sets us apart from the competition when it comes to job opportunities. I think these tips, tricks and skills we are building are very important.
I know this is information I will keep with me long after graduation, because you just never know what you’ll be expected in a work environment.
Dr. Sisco you really are a God send when it comes to giving us as many examples and tools as possible.
Thanks for the websites. I was really impressed by the preesntation on Presentation Zen about life after powerpoint. I really enjoyed it as the speaker touched on alot of the mistakes that we make and he did it in a funny way which kept his audience attention. He also demonstrated mistakes which really put things in perspective. I feel that the mistakes he addressed were all common to us as we’ve all probably been victum to them. I remember my very first powerpoint presentation in college. It was a total disaster. I knew nothing about the program and thought that I had to display my speech on the slides and I did just that. My slides were wordy and I read exactly what was up on the screen. I could remember seeing my audience reaction and that bored look on thier faces. They were constantly looking back and forth at each other as if to say ‘what is she doing’ or ‘this is terrible.’ I could even remember that breath of fresh air that they took when I was done. So I am definately a victum, but it great that I learned from that and always strived to make my presentations better and more creative. With more and more knowledge and ideas I hope to continuously enhance my presentations.
Those websites were really helpful when I prepared my informative speech and quantitative data presentation.
I found the website, http://www.gapminder.org/downloads/presentations/, very interesting. It shows how to make the quantitative data look in fun and clear ways!
I really like the examples of good presentations including the tips that the authors showed us how to make good presentation.
When I had to create and present quantitative data with my friend, CJ, I found so many interesting points that we should do or shouldn’t do for those data. It was surprised me that some recommendations indicated that pie chart is not effective like some people think.
For my opinion, pie chart will be effective or not depends on how much information we put in the chart. If we had just only a few data to compare, pie chart would be effective and easy to understand. On the other hand, if we had to show a lot of data, so we needed to choose another way to show statistics to the audience.
Dear Professor
Thank you for sharing this useful website with us.
I really found many new ideas, creative ways to create the powerpoint presentaion. There is one article that discussed about the effective way to give the presentation. The author recommended that it is beyond ones issue, the organization needs to be changed and improved in order to embrace the new way(effective way) of presentaion. This recommendation hit me so hard. Unfortunetly, the author did not suggest the way to do so. If you have any idea about this please share with me.
Thank you again
Sonnie
Wow, Thiank you for all these are very nice samples for all of us to use and learn from. Today in my service marketing class we have presentation, and boonlai did a very great job on her powerpoint presentation.
when we used things we had learn from our class in other class, it can be easily distinguish from other people’s work. I can clearly see how other people react.
Thank you so much for all website!!
It’s great useful to improve and learn about my presentation. I have already read all links. I learnt how can we make a good power point and how can we make it dintinguish from others. I like that we can show the graph in different ways. It’s not necessery to put in the old same style and format. Those links help me to have more creative ideas!! I really enjoy learning about this.^^
